Dedication "For Chad, because I believed in him. For Lara, because she believed in me. And for Steve, who believed it all."
About
First book, first dedication. Probably the hardest to decide upon, because I had dreamed of this for so many years, and had actually started stapling little books together with folded notebook paper when I was about 15 years old, just so I could write my dedications. (The rest of the books were usually empty, but I had the dedication figured out.) Sweet Dreams was published when my children, now grown, were in Junior High. Or what we now refer to as middle school. My son, Chad, was always in the middle of some kind of not-too-alarming, but generally-annoying, havoc. But he had heart and spirit and I always believed in the boy behind the storm. My daughter Lara was always five going on 20, as they say. Quite responsible and level-headed. Quiet in school. She always thought I was the best writer in the whole world. That is until she discovered Jane Yolen and Avi. Rats. She always thought I was the best mom, too, until she turned 13. And my husband Steve always believed that I would be a writer, buying me a roll-top desk to cram into our crowded dining room before I even had one line of one poem published. My family was, and is, everything to me.
