Imagine Together

You and your students are writing a poem about marbles. Grab a handful. Roll them in your hand. Swirl one between your fingers. Roll them on the sidewalk or the floor. Listen to their sound, watch their colors spin.

Writing a poem about a train? Find a picture of a train, or imagine that one is passing you by—mentally visualize how the cars are connected, how they wobble (or don’t) on the track, wonder about the travelers and where they are going, choose the train’s destination.
